In a bold move, activists from Stand Up! Chicago crashed a pizza fundraiser for Congressman Joe Walsh with their own pizza delivery. A tiny portion of the pizza consisted of anchovies for the 99 percent and pepperoni for the top one percent that Walsh votes in favor of in Congress.
As you can hear in the video, the crowd actually cheers for the income inequality symbolized by the pizza toppings. A staffer happily grabs the delivery before it can reach the Congressman, preventing the organization from reaching its target. The message, though, is delivered!
Walsh and other conservative members of Congress want to pass legislation that would further enrich the one percent and hurt the already struggling middle and working class. The average tax break for millionaires comes out to $265,000, more than five times the median household income. Meanwhile, working families work find themselves with an extra $129 at the end of the year.
The Congressman finds himself in a tough reelection campaign against Iraq veteran and former Department of Veteran Affairs official Tammy Duckworth.
